Star Trek Movie Trailer

March 25, 2009 by Mastermind Staff · Leave a Comment

star_trekWhile Paramount Pictures set May 8, 2009 as the new release date for the Star Trek movie, all trekkies out there can enjoy the new Star Trek movie trailer available on the Internet. While Star Trek fans are eager to find out what J.J. Abrams did with their so much beloved franchise, the director and cast members went to Seoul in February to promote the movie and said that the intention of the studio was to create a Star Trek movie that would not continue where the series left off, but would be a fresh beginning, targeting a new generation of potential Star Trek fans.

When the third Star Trek movie trailer was released, it was the single most downloaded trailer ever, breaking every record in number of downloads within the first 24 hours. It only indicates that the interest for the movie is extremely high, regardless of whether critically inclined fans wanted a glimpse of how J.J. Abrams went about it, or future fans wanted to brace themselves for a new adventure.

The new cast members were given freedom to play the characters in an original way, rather than impersonating actors who enlivened them in the productions of the series. James T. Kirk is portrayed by Chris Pine, Captain Christopher Spike by Bruce Greenwood, Spock by Zachary Quinto and the list of characters and actors goes on and on. When it comes to the character of Uhura, played by Zoe Saldana, she is given a first name for the first time on screen, even though in the DC Comics publication “Who’s Who in Star Trek“, she has been known as Nyota Uhura. Watch out for the release date in your country, but don’t forget it is in May if you are eager to see the complete scenes now available only in short movie trailers.

Films straight out of the rack

March 16, 2009 by Mastermind Staff · Leave a Comment

The movie industry probably doesn’t have enough fresh materials to use for new films. It often borrows stories from literary works. May it be a classic piece like Jane Eyre’s “Pride and Prejudice” or the horrific “The Clown” (Stephen King) to feel-good paperbacks like “The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood” and “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” to internationally acclaimed pieces (The Joyluck Club) to comic book heroes (Spiderman), we have seen Hollywood adapt written materials for its own productions. This summer we will see many films taken right off the rack directly to the big screen. Confessions of a Shopaholic, Angels and Demons, Twilight, Watchmen are just some of the movies produce taken directly off the books.

But do the movie counterparts of these books live up to viewers’ expectation. That is not always the case. It is a great challenge to put written words into action and its true for film adaptations. A film maker will have to make sure to meet not only the expectation of moviegoers but also of the fan base of the literary work that will be adapted. Squeezing a 700 page book into a 2 hour movie may not be enough to produce a quality film. Sure, there are a few successes. The Godfather, 300, and Fight Club are few of examples of great film adaptations. Sometimes, however, it is disappointing. The film totally loses the essence of the book. The adaptation of the book series Harry Potter was a big letdown.

It takes true genius and pure talent to produce a high calibre film. But it adapting stories from books to film takes more than that.

Spiderman Movie Trailer

March 15, 2009 by Mastermind Staff · Leave a Comment

spider-man-3-trailer2Spiderman movie trailer was the first introduction of Marvel’s comic book character Spiderman on screen. Sony Pictures produced the first Spiderman movie in 2002, awaiting for reactions. Since we love watching heros fight against evil and crime, the movie was greeted with excitement. A lot of money was put into its promotion and scenes from the trailer were aired on TV and made available for viewing on the internet.

Spiderman movie trailer is composed of a series of short shots highlighted by Peter Parker’s transformation into Spiderman and some of his stunts in life-threatening situations. The audience was expecting to be entertained and watch it in one breath. Since the movie managed to do just that, it was on Sony Pictures to make the next move.

Once movie fans got to know Peter Parker, starred by Toby McGuire, his life as a student, the spider-man-3trailerincident that changed his life forever and the way he learned to use his newly acquired skills, they didn’t want the story to end. The movie was created on the premise that good conquers evil and that nothing can stop in the way of true love. While love pertains to relationship between Peter and Mary Jane Watson, evil is represented by Norman Osborn, father of Peter’s best friend Harry. The plot thickens when Norman conducts his own experiments that turn him into a menace to society, forcing Peter, a.k.a. Spiderman put all his powers and energy into stopping him and leaves the love of his life in order to do so.

Two years later Spiderman 2 was released, bringing new twists and characters to the story, but portraying Spiderman as we remembered him. Spiderman 3 movie trailer introduces Spiderman in the black suit and with an arogant attitude. Advertised as the best Spiderman ever, we just had to find out what was responsible for the transformation. The trailer gives you a closer look into some of the brutal fight scenes from the movie. What makes them so exciting is that while Spiderman is challenged by three enemies, the Sandman, Venom and the New Goblin, he has to defeat an enemy who has awakened within himself. You can find the Spiderman movie trailer on Sony Pictures official website, just in case you haven’t seen the movie yet. The announcement of the 4th sequel is all the more reason to see all the movies and get into the story full of surprises.
